Welcome to The Canterbury High School

A message to all parents, stakeholders and supporters of The Canterbury Academy

The Canterbury High School was inspected by Ofsted on the 11th & 12th October 2017. The inspection team, in their Ofsted Report, commented that The Canterbury Academy is 'a unique, large, vibrant and increasingly popular school, with a quite exceptional curriculum delivered in outstanding facilities. They never sway from doing what they believe is right for a pupil, regardless of any reduction to their headline measures.'

Welcome to The Canterbury High School

The Canterbury High School is part of The Canterbury Academy. The Canterbury Academy 'converted' in 2010.

As a result of our imaginative partnership with Simon Langton Grammar School for Boys, The Canterbury High School can offer the children and community of Canterbury and East Kent a genuine comprehensive option.  The Canterbury High School is a 'school for all the talents'  which strives for excellence in 4 areas: academic study, practical learning, performing arts and sport.  The students at The Canterbury High School benefit from the impressive resources and facilities at The Canterbury Campus creating  'a wealth of opportunity' and enable us to provide 'as much as possible, as often as possible, for as many

as possible'.

Please have a look at our website.  If you would like to contact us please do so.  If you would like to arrange a visit you will be most welcome to come and have a look around.

The Canterbury High School is a 'school for all the talents'.  The key beliefs which underpin and drive all we do are simple.  We believe that every learner matters and that every child is good at something - that all children walk with genius - and that school should be the place where children discover and build upon their own individual talents.

We believe in the comprehensive ideal.  We believe that all talents should be valued. We believe that academic excellence is important but that there are also other important things.  We believe that art, music, drama, sport, practical skills, being a good person, caring for and working with others are all valuable.

We believe in team work and that all of our students should have pride in themselves and their contribution to the school.  The Canterbury High School has a house system represented by four different coloured ties, providing opportunities for healthy competition and recognising achievement.

Our aim is to provide 'as much as possible, as often as possible, for as many as possible'.  We believe that education and learning can be fun.  At the end of their time with us we aim for all our young people to leave as happy, positive, confident individuals, proud of what they have achieved, prepared to be life-long learners and ready to play an active and constructive part in society.

Welcome

Jon Watson - Executive Principal of The Canterbury Academy Trust
