BANDING ASSESSMENT

Applications for students who live outside the Canterbury area will be considered on the basis of a banding assessment. Please check the links above for further information. If you are unable to find what you are looking for, please contact the school directly.

ADMISSIONS & OVERSUBSCRIPTION CRITERIA

If the number of preferences for the school is more than the number of places available, places will be allocated according to certain criteria as outlined in the documents above.

To view the complete document giving full details for the criteria in the event of oversubscription, read the relevent documentaion avaliable above.

APPEALS

If the school has advised you that we are not able to offer your child a place. Parents do of course have the right to appeal. If you feel after reading the oversubscription criteria that you have a sufficiently strong case for an independent panel to overrule the schools decision then please write a letter of appeal to The Clerk to the Board of Directors at The Canterbury Academy with any supplementary paperwork. Appeals where possible will be held within 30 school days for in year admissions and 40 school days when transitioning to the school.

If your child is due to start secondary school in September 2019 you can appeal between 1st March -29 March 2019 to guarantee that your appeal will be heard by 17 June 2019.   For applications made in the normal admission round, appeals must be heard within 40 school days of the deadline for lodging appeals.  For late applications, appeals should be heard within 40 schools days from the deadline for lodging appeals where possible, or within 30 schools days of the appeals being lodged.

To apply for a place during the current school year please use the In Year/Casual Admissions form.
