PROVISION

 

You will receive subsidised instrumental tuition, paying only 50% of the normal cost of having lessons on an instrument of your choice and discounted tickets to shows, performances and theatre trips.

 

You will have the opportunity to perform in school and at local venues and exhibitions, on your own and as part of a group.

Gifted & Talented Music Students receive tuition in singing or on their chosen instrument and are expected to take part in performances both in and out of school.

 

Courses include:

 

  • Expressive Arts - Music

  • KS4 - GCSE & BTEC Level 2

  • KS5 - BTEC Level 3

 

 

PROGRAMME OF STUDY

For those wishing to pursue a career in the music industry there are opportunities to audition for the Music Programme at The Canterbury Institute for Performing Arts.

SELECTION CRITERIA

 

The Canterbury High School is a 15% Music selective school which attracts students from a range of areas and backgrounds.

 

Anyone with an active interest in music is invited to apply, for example, if you currently play an instrument or sing in a choir.

 

You will be invited to take part in an informal musical audition. Successful applicants will be notified in writing and will be expected to take up vocal or instrumental tuition, to attend at least one music/drama club each week and participate in school performances.
