THE 14 - 24 ENTERPRISE & EMPLOYABILITY COLLEGE (EEC)

EXCELLENCE IN PRACTICAL LEARNING & ENTERPRISE EDUCATION

The Enterprise & Employability College offers an innovative range of courses and qualifications for students at The Canterbury Academy.

It specialises in practical learning and enterprise education. It helps prepare students gain employment or to become the employers of tomorrow.

 

The 'EEC' has outstanding facilities including a hairdressing and barbering salon, 'Education Cuts'; a beauty salon, a 'building and construction unit’, health, social care and childcare facilities, including the City View Nursery; and, Chefs' Restaurant, open to the public for lunches 2 days per week and available for private and commercial functions. 

 

These facilities give students experience and training in the workplace in a supportive and safe environment as they progress to achieve industry level qualifications.  Students also have the opportunity of a work placement throughout their course in the relevant industry.

ENTERPRISE OPPORTUNITIES

Students are introduced to enterprise. Those wishing to create their own company have support and mentoring to start up their own businesses.

COURSES FOR NON-ACADEMY STUDENTS

in partnership with the City & Coastal College

 

The EEC also provides a range of opportunities for students at other schools and members of the community.

 

It is possible for other schools to buy courses for their students. It is possible for members of the local community to access opportunities to train and gain qualifications.

 

Some of these opportunities include courses in:

 

  • Construction

  • Hair and Beauty

  • Chef/ Professional Cookery

  • Health and Childcare

 

The EEC also runs training courses in the following, industry standard certificates:

 

  • Food safe handling

  • First aid at work (3 day and 1 day)

  • Paediatric first aid

  • Barbering 

  • Team Teach (safe handling of young people) 

 

FACILITIES

 

It is possible formembers of the community to use the Youth & Community Centre at the EEC.

 

The EEC also has hireable facilities available to businesses and the local community:

 

  • Lecture Theatre (capacity 75)

  • Conference Room (capacity 40)
