Bradley Goldsack makes 139 for Kent in county cricket match

Year 11 student, Bradley Goldsack, performed fantastically for the county under 17 cricket team this week. In a three day game against Middlesex up at Polo Farm, Bradley scored 139 runs in the Kent innings. On day one, he spent close to 80 overs in the field before having to bat for the last hour of the day. He came through that challenge unscathed and went on to build a monumental innings on the next day.

His score of 139 was made off 273 balls which is an incredible feat of patience, determination, concentration and skill. The ability to bat for long periods of time in cricket is a dwindling skill and this effort has really impressed the Kent coaches.

The game ended up being drawn and another Canterbury Academy student, Taylor Chandler, also had a good game as he took five wickets across the match.

Bradley and Taylor will be playing regularly for the county side over the next few weeks. The photograph show Bradley coming off the field during one of the intervals and there is also a screenshot of the scorecard below that shows the significance of his achievement.

Year 12 student, Ed Taylor, was also involved in county cricket as he scored 27 for the Sussex Under 17 side against Surrey this week. Very few schools would be able to be in a position to have three county players in their sixth form side so the boys have done brilliantly to earn this recognition and to be performing at this level. Thank you to all the staff who co-operate with the commitments of these players during the summer months.
