Wonderful Wednesday for Canterbury High Sport

On Wednesday 18th April, our basketball and football teams enjoyed success in county and district competitions.

The county basketball finals took place in Medway and there were wins for our Year 7, Year 9 and sixth form teams. More details to follow.

Our Year 7 football team took on Simon Langton in the district final and came away with a thumping 5-0 victory. A tight first half saw Archie Hatcher round the keeper to put Canterbury High one up before a sustained spell of pressure from Langton was thwarted by a resolute defensive performance from Canterbury High.

The second half was far more one sided and Canterbury High’s teamwork, skill and power led to four more goals. Jayden Denly grabbed two and Alfie Wood scored the fourth from an excellent corner kick routine. The scoring was completed by Archie Hatcher who latched onto a long ball before calmly slotting home. The clean sheet meant Canterbury High went through the competition without conceding a goal.

Please congratulate the basketballers and footballers when you next see them. Freddie Marsh and Pedro Jimenez from Year 7 played in both sports and came away with two medals on the day.
