Politics students meet the Speaker of the House
Last week, our year 12 politics students were afforded the incredible opportunity to attend a closed seminar with the Rt Honourable John Bercow, MP for Buckingham and Speaker of the House of Commons. The students had the opportunity to ask questions on a range of topics, including the role of the speaker, his legitimacy as an MP and the controversy of President Donald Trump’s state visit. This relates explicitly to content they cover as part of their Politics A level.
Students then attended a public lecture from John Bercow, hosted by Canterbury Christ Church University at Augustine house. Our students asked more questions, in front of an audience of hundreds. Their conduct was impeccable throughout the day and they served as great ambassadors for the academy (and our growing politics programme!).
