Important information
Dear Parent or Guardian
This letter contains some information about events that are happening across the academy.
The most important change this year will be occurring on July 3rd.
On this date the year groups will be ‘promoted’. This means that Year 6 at CPS will commence an induction into Year 7 at CHS, Year 7 at CHS become Year 8, Year 8 become Year 9, Year 9 become Year 10 and Year 10 begin their final year of study aiming towards GCSE. This is a positive change as it will give the students at the academy time to settle into a new timetable, form a relationship with the teaching staff who will have them next year and start to focus upon the future.
There are other events that you will know about. Some of these are
June 13th is The academy’s Practical Learning Awards Evening
June 20th is The Academy Choscars to celebrate its successes in Performing Arts
July 1st – The Canterbury Primary School Summer Fayre
July 4th Key Stage 2 results are published
July 10th, 11th & 12th will be the academy summer show, ‘School of Rock’ at The Gulbenkian
13th July will see the children of The Canterbury Primary School performing their summer show at The Gulbenkian
July 14th will be Summerfest
21st July is the final day of term and both schools will end at 2.00pm
August 17th is when A level and other 6th form results will be available
24th August is when GCSE results will be available
The new school year for both The Canterbury Primary School and The Canterbury High School begins on Monday 4th September.
Through the summer work will continue on the new building to enable The Canterbury High School to take an additional form of entry. There may also be work starting, depending upon planning, at The Canterbury Primary School to provide a Multi Use Games Area.
I will write about these, and other developments, towards the end of this academic year.
My regards,
Phil Karnavas
Executive Principal of The Canterbury Academy Trust
