Tamara Fournillier-Onadeko becomes a national basketball champion!

Over the weekend, Year 9 student Tamara became a National Champion. This adds another achievement to her recent call up to the England U15 National team. Tamara and her team Sevenoaks Suns travelled to Manchester and won the under 14 girls national basketball championship. This is a great testament to all of Tamara's hard work and dedication in the basketball academy at Canterbury High School and also with her club team.

After finishing fourth in the regular season of the South Premier League, Tamara and her team surprised everyone by winning back-to-back playoff games and qualifying for the Final Fours weekend. Coming into the tournament as underdogs meant that few people expected the girls to make it past the first round. On the Saturday, Sevenoaks beat well established Sheffield Hatters 60-55 in the sem

i-final and Tamara was one of the top scorers and key players in the game.

They played against Manchester Mystics in the national final . Shocking the huge Manchester home crowd and claiming the gold medal, Tamara and her team won the final by seven points! This is a brilliant achievement.

Please congratulate her on this incredible performance when you next see her around school.
