Year 11 Futsal through to county finals

The Under 16 futsal team took the short journey to Folkestone to play against big rivals The Harvey Grammar School on Wednesday.

Canterbury High flew out the traps and within the first five minutes were 4-0 in front thanks to a couple of well struck shots from Baily Sinnock. Some tidy footwork from Ted Nelson and Brooke Tiernan plus tireless work up front from Sam Menzies ensured that we controlled the early stages of the game.

Harvey Grammar rallied and scored three goals before we struck just before half time to take a 5-3 lead into the break. An inspiring half time team talk from Arsene McCue seemed to do the trick and the opposition couldn't contain the fast fluid passing from us which resulted in another two goals.

A string of excellent saves from Mark Sitton kept the opponent’s attack under control and a couple of late goals on the counter attack rounded off a very impressive 9-4 victory against a school with a very good football reputation.

If you see the boys around school, please congratulate them on their win. Thank you.
