Canterbury High swimmers compete at ASA Winter Nationals

We had two of our sixth form students competing in a national men’s swimming competition over the weekend.

Jordan Honour (Year 13) and Max Jameson (Year 12) travelled to Sheffield to represent Thanet Swim Club in a national event against some of the best swimmers in the country. For both of them, it was a step up in terms of level of competition and they learnt a great deal from the experience.

Jordan swam impressively in three of his events and recorded personal bests over the weekend and despite a tough race in the 200 Fly, Max recorded a personal best in the 200m backstroke.

Both of these swimmers benefit from having their coach come over to work on land based exercises in our fully equipped gymnasium but the majority of their training is in the pool for long hours. These training schedules are often full of early morning work so the level of commitment needs to be full on from these students.

Please congratulate them at the start of the next term when you see them and ask them about their experiences competing at this level. Jordan is pictured on the right in and out of the pool and the photo of Max shows him outside the arena.
