Tough week for football sides but encouraging displays
In a congested week of fixtures, the school teams have performed well despite signs of fatigue settling in after a heavy schedule.
The Gillingham FC Sixth Form Academy side won 3-0 against Castle Community College with goals from Callum Gore, Marwan Jemal and Jonny Woollard.
The Year 10 side relied on a late Max Ndah equaliser to level the score against Herne Bay High in the district league and they remain undefeated this season. They have a Kent Cup game against Sir Roger Manwoods to come next week.
The Year 9 team kept fighting back against QES to draw 4-4 on Thursday. A Ronnie Nelson hat trick proving inspirational in a see-saw game.
The Year 7 team were knocked out of the county cup by a physically strong Borden Grammar School. The final 5-2 score line was slightly harsh and the coaching team of Relf and Bonney put a rogue acorn down as the deciding factor in the game.
With the threat of the sack hovering over them , the management team turned things round on Thursday by masterminding a 5-0 demolishment of Herne Bay High with highlights being Monty Saunders grabbing two goals and Zac Jennings scoring with a 30 yard free kick.
Miss Patel presided over an entertaining girls match against CCW who came armed with Ben Smith as their manager. Our girls won a great game 6-5 with both coaches upset about the quality of defending on show but delighted with the attacking skills.
