Summer of Sporting Success


There have been several outstanding sporting achievements over the summer holiday.

Appeti Tennis

Oliver Richards (Year 10) became the number 1 tennis player in Kent at under 14 and there were impressive performances from Seb McDonnel-Palomares, Marta Poriete and Ciaran Brewer. Oliver is pictured alongside his coach, Tim Bean. Tim has done a fantastic job over the year with several of our tennis school students.

Touch Rugby

Ayla Payten (Year 11) represented England U18 girls Touch Rugby at the Junior Touch International tournament in the Netherlands in August and earned a silver medal.

Aquathlon

Tom Fox (Year 13) represented Great Britain in the Age Group Aquathon European Championships.

Cricket

Bradley Goldsack (Year 10) made 80 not out for Kent under 14 against Gloucestershire in a county cricket game.

A team of our students will be representing Canterbury High in the national 8-a-side cricket finals at Edgbaston Cricket Ground on Monday 12th September.

Basketball

Mate Okros (Year 11) represented England U15 at basketball in European tournaments.

Football

Ronnie Nelson (Year 9) was selected for the under 14 Charlton Athletic elite squad.

If you see any of these students around the school, please congratulate them on excellent achievements. Details on extra-curricular sport for all students will be out shortly. There are numerous chances to attend different clubs. Please encourage your mentees to get involved.
