It was bad, Mama. They laughed at me...

Our Year 13 Musical Theatre Programme students have become the first group in the country to be granted the performance licence to the musical Carrie (based on the Stephen King novel).

On Tuesday of this week, the students went through two gruelling days of auditions for the roles in this show, in front of a panel that included Evelyn Hoskins, the award-winning actress who wowed London audiences as Carrie White in the original sold-out production earlier this year.

Ms Hoskins, who will be starring as Leisl in ITV’s The Sound of Music – Live over the Christmas holidays, said "I want to say how impressed I was with your college, I hope you all appreciate the facilities and opportunities that are being created for you there. You're so very lucky. I also want to say how great you all [the students] did, you represented yourselves extremely well.”

The students sang two contrasting songs for the panel, and then Ms Hoskins selected scenes from the script to act with each student. Photos are attached.

Due to the impression made by our students and facilities, she has offered to return for a full day of rehearsals in January, and confirmed that she will be attending our production in the first week of June!
