Broadway visits Year 13

In what has become a common occurrence over the past few years, a Broadway songwriting team visited Canterbury High last Friday to deliver a workshop to our Year 13 Musical Theatre Programme students.

The Award-winning musical theatre writing duo Rosser & Sohne (composer Tim Rosser lyricist Charlie Sohne) came from New York City to coach our lucky students, each of whom prepared a song written by the pair. Pictures and a short video are attached.

Charlie Sohne said, “The standard was incredibly high, it’s hard to believe these students are still in high school.” His writing partner Tim Rosser was quoted as saying, “I want to go back in time and come here as a student! There is nothing like this in America.”

Year 13 Musical Theatre student Daisy French (pictured with Rosser at piano) said, “It was a nerve-wracking experience, singing a song to the people that wrote it. It made you nervous about messing it up,” but added “They of course knew the songs inside and out, and it was amazing to hear their perspective and know I was doing the right thing with my singing and acting."
