Inspire Legacy Day

Canterbury High School Student Leaders Impress on Inspire Legacy Day

The following Year 8 students impressed during a primary school event last Friday hosted by The Canterbury High School.

  • Kieran Purkiss

  • Craig Williams

  • Tia Capper

  • Adam Aitken

  • Jordan Gilmore

  • Kayden Dennis

Each of the leaders was assigned to a school and they guided students and staff around the site between the different activities as well as assisting the coaches on each activity. Excellent feedback was received from all primary staff. The leaders were professional in conduct and appearance and they engaged with the students which enhanced the experience for all the primary children. Kayden and Jordan were both exceptional - they organised their groups, led their own warm ups for each activity and worked one to one with primary students helping them develop their skills.

The day itself was split between 4 activities.

  • Beach Handball

  • Beach Volleyball

  • Martial Arts

  • Inspirational talk - Paralympian Liz Johnson came in and shared an amazing story about her struggles and sheer determination to become an elite athlete.

The attachment contains a group photograph of all of the students involved in this event. Since the event, we have received some very positive feedback from the organisers and participating primary schools. Our students were a credit to the school. Please make every effort to congratulate them when you see them around school.

Thanks to everyone who was involved in this project but in particular to Matt Reeve, Chris Small and David Finch.
