Year 8 Coming for the Cricket County Cup

The Year 8 Cricket side that features several students from year 7 beat Herne Bay High by 60 runs in the county cup last night. The highlight of Canterbury High’s innings was a magnificent 101 not out from Jordan Gillmore. Jordan’s innings contained 12 fours and 6 sixes and he put on 104 for the fourth wicket with Brooke Tiernan. Brooke and Jordan rebuilt the innings after Herne Bay High had taken three early wickets.

A middle order revival meant that Canterbury High ended up on 178 off their 18 overs. Tight bowling from Bradley Goldsack and Ryan Townson meant that even though they did not take wickets, Canterbury High remained in control of the game. A brilliant direct hit run out from Baily Sinnock stopped any Herne Bay momentum and a tight spell from Tom Heath at the end meant that Herne Bay High fell 60 runs short of the total.

Canterbury High will now play Simon Langton in the quarter final next week and they also have QES to play in a district cup semi-final as well.
