Super 8’s Athletics Success

The super 8’s year 7 athletics team worked extremely well throughout the competition held at The Canterbury Academy. On an extremely windy afternoon, the students competed against 9 other schools in the district to achieve some fantastic results.

  • Tamara Fournillier-Onadeko finished 1st in her hurdles heat.

  • Freya Rattigan ran a superb 200m heat finishing 3rd place overall.

  • Tia Capper paced her 800m perfectly and challenged her competitors all the way down the home straight to finish 2nd overall.

  • Paige Duncan finished in 1st place for the shot reaching over 6m.

  • Josh Baker ran confidently through the hurdles to finish 2nd overall with Luke Jones storming down the 100m to finish 2nd also.

  • Jordan Gillmore finished 1st in his 200m heat.

  • Jude Duhig finished 1st place in the shot reaching over 8m closely followed by Luke Jones in 2nd place.

The students worked extremely well throughout the event and were a credit to the school. A special mention to June Plews (athletics coach) who has continued to work with these students during lessons and after school.

The boy’s team finished 4th out of 10 schools and the girls team finished 5th.

Please congratulate the students if you see them!
