Canterbury Academy beat QES by 94 runs in Kent Cup

A combined year 7 and 8 cricket team knocked QES out of the county cup comfortably on Wednesday 13th May. The game was played at Faversham Cricket Club who have kindly allowed us to use their ground this season.

QES made an early breakthrough by removing Bradley Goldsack for 16 in the third over. However, that just led to Jordan Gillmore coming in and immediately placing pressure on the bowlers with his aggressive striking. Jordan and Baily Sinnock put on 129 for the second wicket with Jordan hitting five 6’s in his excellent 82. He was out in the final over and the final team score was 154 off 16 overs.

Faced with such a large total, QES were immediately in trouble due to great bowling from Bradley Goldsack who took two early wickets. Disciplined bowling and good fielding meant that QES never got near the required score and they ended up well short on 60 at the end of their overs.

Andrew Llong and Josh Marsh both took two wickets. The victory means that the team will now play either Dover Grammar School or Herne Bay High for a place in the county cup quarter final.

The team was as follows.

1. Bradley Goldsack (captain) 8JAE

2. Baily Sinnock 8M1

3. Andrew Llong 8T3

4. Ryan Townson 8M2

5. Jordan Gillmore (Wicket keeper) 7B3

6. Kaydn Dennis 7

7. Tom Heath 8AAE1

8. Freddie Adams 7C2

9. Craig Williams 7M3

10. Lucas Newman 7C3

11. Josh Marsh 8
