Regional U13 Girl’s Handball Champions

The year 8 girl’s Handball team took part in the 'Part Regional Handball Finals' held at Sparsholt College in Winchester on Tuesday 28th April.

After an early start and a long journey, the girls got off to a flying start in the first game against Toynbee School by going 2-0 up with both goals scored by Maddie Greenan. Toynbee then grabbed a goal back mid-way through the match but we finished the match strongly with a goal from Erin Payten. Maddie then completed her hat-trick to make the final score a 4-1 win to Canterbury Academy.

The girls were pretty tired after the first match but were straight into action for game two against Glenmoor School. Their fatigue showed and with 6 minutes left to play they found themselves 5-1 down and facing elimination from the competition. However, they finally hit top gear and scored 4 goals in quick succession to finish 5-4 down at the end.

These late goals were essential as it improved their goal difference meaning they won the competition. They now progress to the next round which is the South England Championships in Swindon on May 19th.

Please congratulate the following girls on their achievement and wish them luck in the next round.
