MIDDLE SCHOOL

In an exciting and forward-thinking department, students benefit from an intensive KS3 programme of study, designed to engage, enthuse and expose students to a range of literature.  Year 7 and 8 students study one novel, one Shakespeare play and a variety of poems.

In Year 9 students begin to explore the GCSE curriculum.  They study a contemporary novel, a set GCSE text for English Literature and analyse 'MacBeth'.  Students explore, thematically, a range of challenging poems and study the fundamental skills necessary to tackle GCSE examinations, including accurate writing skills and the skills of analysis.

SENIOR SCHOOL

From September 2014 Year 10 students will study two English GCSEs.

English Literature (OCR) made up of two controlled assessments, worth 25% and three examinations worth 75%.
