THE OCCUPATIONAL & ENTERPRISE COLLEGE

The Occupational & Enterprise College offers programmes of study for learners whose skills, abilities, gifts and talents are more practical.

 

The Canterbury Academy offers an innovative range of courses and qualifications for students and specialises in practical learning and enterprise education. It helps prepare students gain employment or to become the employers of tomorrow.

 

It has outstanding facilities including hairdressing and barbering salon, 'Education Cuts'; a beauty salon, a building and construction unit, health & social care and childcare facilities, including the City View Nursery; and, Chefs' Restaurant, open to the public for lunches 2 days per week and which is available for private and commercial functions.

COURSES

These facilities give students experience and training in the workplace in a supportive and safe environment as they progress to achieve industry level qualifications.  

 

Students also have the opportunity of a work placement throughout their course in the relevant industry. 

 

Students are introduced to enterprise. Those wishing to create their own company have support and mentoring, encouraging young entrepreneurs to start up their own businesses.

The unique aspect of the Sixth Form's provision is the flexibility it offers.  The timetable allows students to mix different types of courses, different levels of qualifications, improve maths and English and study at a variety of different times.
